Morning Teal ovarian cancer fundraiser on February 25, 2019

February 05, 2019

Ovarian cancer kills more than 1,000 women each year in Australia, and this year more than 1,600 more will be diagnosed with the disease. This has a devastating effect on women, their friends and families, and our community.

February is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and, as I have for the past two years, I will hold a “Morning Teal” event on February 25 to raise funds for Ovarian Cancer Australia.

Last year’s Morning Teal raised $2,259 for Ovarian Cancer Australia, thanks to the generosity of our community. This year I am confident we can raise even more.

Ovarian Cancer Australia strives to decrease the incidence of the disease and improve survival rates. Fundraising helps them provide services to the community and continue to raise awareness of the signs, symptoms and risk factors of ovarian cancer.

Morning Teal will be held on Monday, February 25, from 10.30am to 12pm, at Warners Bay Sports Club, 7 Charles Street, Warners Bay. Guest speakers will include Hunter Medical Research Fellow in Ovarian Cancer Associate Professor Nikola Bowden. Teal cupcakes will be served and teal hand-made jewellery by Carolyn Bear will be for sale.

The cost is $10, and a raffle will be held with prizes including return flights for two to Byron Bay staying for two nights at The Lord Byron Resort, two nights at the Novotel Sydney Darling Harbour, a 2019 signed Newcastle Knights Jersey, and a Weber Q barbecue.

As numbers are limited, RSVP is essential. Please phone 4947 9546 or email [email protected] by Tuesday 19 February to register attendance or donate.
