NEW HOME FOR SURVIVOR'S R US

April 02, 2026

The new and permanent home for Survivor’s R Us opens today thanks to a $2.8 million funding boost from the Albanese Labor Government.

Following an increase in rent at their previous site, Survivor’s R Us needed to find an alternative and this federal investment enabled them to purchase their own premises in Cardiff.

The delivery of this election commitment secures the charity’s future and ensures the critical support they provide for survivors of domestic and family violence can continue.

Survivor’s R Us is a not-for-profit organisation and critical community hub that offers free counselling services, support groups, affordable groceries and second-hand goods to those who need it most.

This funding boost is one of the first election commitments delivered across Australia.

Quotes attributable to Hon Pat Conroy MP, Federal Member for Shortland:

“For nine years, Survivor’s R Us has been there for the most vulnerable in our community – for survivors of domestic and family violence, for those experiencing homelessness and for those struggling to find work.

“With our $2.8 million investment, this critical work will continue for years to come as they now have a permanent site and a secure future.

“With a new home, this is a new chapter for Survivor’s R Us – and I’m grateful for what they continue to do every day for our community.”
